Ready to go.

I'm SO ready to go up north. It's not like my life is that stressful and difficult, but I'm tired, and I know I can relax and unwind up there. Plus, I'm very excited to introduce Preston to our tradition.

Speaking of Preston, he finally cut his first tooth! We were beginning to think it was never going to happen, and that they were going to stay lodged under his gums for the rest of his life. He thought I was so funny when I was yelling "yay!!" last night. :) He is also wanting more and more to stand holding on to something, but he gets all flustered when he realizes the only way to get back down to the floor is by bonking himself to the ground. It's like he gets stuck, it's kind of funny. No crawling, though. I think he thinks we're nuts when we put him on his tummy. He really hates it. He's perfectly content to stay sitting forever, and he will reach for toys. But the moment that it's out of his reach and he realizes he'd have to go crawling to get it, he just says "nevermind, nope not gonna do it." The little stinker...

Anyways, we had a nice 4th of July weekend, but it was very busy. We left WI on Friday night and went down to Illinois City, IL to visit with Harrisons. Their new home is beautiful, and they were such wonderful hosts. Mike and Andy set off some good fireworks Saturday night, and we were also able to get some sun and great visiting in. Preston and Megan didn't do so well in the car ride home, though, so that kind of sucked. We got home Sunday evening, and just took it easy, but we were tired.

Monday I marched in a little parade playing the sousaphone, and that was fun. It's a great opportunity to provide a celebration for a neighborhood that is often overlooked, and I know that the children absolutely love it. So it was a good time. It's a bonus that I get paid for it, too-- can't forget that part. We went down to Racine Monday afternoon, and though we had only planned originally to stay a few hours, we ended up staying until after 7pm. We had a really fun time, but we were really beat by that point. Skip had worked a TON already that weekend, so we were ready to be home.

This past week was prep week for the northwoods, and I've almost forgotten that it's also Katie and John's wedding! I'm so excited to go to a "big fat Greek wedding," so I think this one will be a good one. After this wedding it's 2 down, 4 more to go this season...
